This year, what started out as a remix and remaster of my 2018 release with a few tweaks here and there turned into a 90% re-recording with A at 432Hz and with a new video. In true Phoenix style it is truly regenerated and rejuvenated. The original has now been withdrawn, but you can still find the video on my YouTube channel labelled as original demo version. This song becoming more relevant than ever. Wake up people! Description from earlier in the year: I wrote the words to this song in 2019 so I had no idea of the impending Covid-19 and its imposed restrictions. So many obvious and verifiable false claims, exaggerations, distortions of the truth and representation of facts and figures out of context have been pedaled by governments and mainstream media to devastating effect over the past year. At the same time the narrative has been narrowed and censorship and control has tightened its grip. The controllers and the manipulators, as with all confidence tricksters, will use deception above all else to gain trust. They need belief and compliance to succeed. To change this broken system which is killing our planet we need real change. Not violence, not hatred, not blame, not war. These things are part of the mechanism for creating false divisions amongst us, false enemies, weakening our unity and distracting from the real challenges of our planet. So what must we do? Firstly, question everything. Everything we are taught, everything we believe to be fact, everything we read, everything we are told, whether from alternative or mainstream sources, cross refer everything. We need to open up our minds to acknowledge our perceptions may have been wrong. As well as not believing all of the things you are told are true, it is equally important to question everything you are told is untrue. Often when you are told things have been "debunked" (often by corporate or government backed debunking bodies), when things are ridiculed as extreme or "conspiracy theories" or "totally baseless", it only takes a little digging to find they often have quite a solid base on which to make their claims. Of course there is a huge deal of fake news from alternative sources also. That is why we have to engage our brains, cross refer, use available data and evaluate which sources are reliable and independent. Always ask yourself who has something to gain from your belief in the information you are receiving and who may be weakened by it. Hope you enjoy the song. Back to my rock roots with this one. Musically of course there are huge 70s influences in this one from the likes of Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and perhaps a bit of Blue Öyster Cult. The riffs come largely from jam sessions many years back and it's great to finally get them recorded and out there. Also tuned with A at 432Hz. Well I'm proud to present this, my first musical collaboration with my old school friend John Haydock from Southend High School way back in the 80's. We had great plans to form a band back then, even before either of us could play an instrument... until his family emigrated to Australia. Today John lives in Sydney, Australia while I am in Granada, Spain but thankfully the technology exists to make long distance musical collaborations possible and so hopefully this is just the first with more to come!
